‘Tarana-e-Hind’:

The poems of Tarana-e-Hind was composed by Dr. `Allamah Iqbal (may Allah have mercy on him).

The beginning of the poem is as follows:

sāre jahāñ se acchā hindostāñ hamārā

ham bulbuleñ haiñ us kī vuh gulsitāñ hamārā

(Better than the entire world, is our Hindustan,

We are its nightingales, and it (is) our garden abode.)

These were written by `Allamah Muhammad Iqbal (1877–1938 A.D.) in the Urdu language.

Bahadur Shah Zafar’s Reply to the British Settlers

When Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Moghul emperor was captured by the British

Forces in Delhi, a short dialogue took place between King and the Jailor. The English Jailor had good command over Urdu and composed fine poems in Urdu and said in pride:

Dam dame mein dam nahin ab khair maango jaan ki

Ai Zafar thandi hui ab taigh hindustan ki.

(There is no power and energy in the soldiers, so ask for the goodness and safety for yourself, O Zafar! Now the swords of India have become cool.)

Then Bahadur Shah Zafar replied:

“Gazhiyon mein boo rahegi, jab talak imaan ki, Takht-e-london tak chalegi, taigh Hindustan ki”

(As long as the warriors have even a little bit of the fragrance of faith in them, the Indian sword will keep on reaching the throne of London.)

In addition, the Hindu speaker says:

The first freedom fighter who sacrificed his soul fighting against the British occupiers was Tipu Sultan who was a Muslim.

When our country got its freedom was Friday and the month was Ramadan.
